Go! Green Goa, one-day workshop on agriculture, alternative energy, climate change and water issues held in the city on Saturday here brought out the concerns of nature lovers and environmentalist.
The workshop successfully highlighted new, smart methods of fanning and conservation of energy and protecting resources.
In the first session, Yogita Mehra of TERI screened a movie "Daughters of the Soil" highlighting women's initiatives.
Darryl Pereira, MD of Reira Eco Reira Group on Agriculture Solutions in Goa, spoke about integrated, traditional and modem methods of agriculture.
Lucano and Isa Alvares having deep interest in organic farming, made a presentation on growing food at home.
In the second session, Clea Chandmal, a geneticist and plant scientist by training and Bruna Fogaca, a food engineer made introduction to the principle of permaculture.
Horticulturists Minguel Braganza spoke about organic farming and contribution of small farmers. He highlighted how organic farming is getting picking up in the country. According to him about eight farmers in Goa have got into organic farming.
Aaron Pereira who represented Indian Youth Climate Network presented a movie A D 2040.
Environmental scientist Dr. Emmanuel D'Silva gave a presentation on bio fuels and alternative energy while Dr.Varde, Director and Member of the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) made presentation on Renewable energy solutions.
Noted architect Dean D'Cruz initiated Go! Green Goa - a workshop on ecological resurgence. |
