Our earth is like a giant sponge that will absorb immense quantity of water and make it available to us when we squeeze it during the summer. For this we must recharge the aquifers by letting rainwater soak into the ground. Here are two ideas that can make a significant difference to our water sources.
1. Those living on the sloping land - Make little speed breaker bunds to arrest the speed of water flowing downhill. Remember that the slower it flows, the better it soaks.
2. Those with gardens - Bury pots with holes at the bottom about 3-4 inches into the ground. Let the water fill into these and then slowly seep into the soil. |
